Technical diving education begins with two courses, Decompression Procedures and Advanced Nitrox. The TDI Decompression Procedures Diver course prepares you for planned, staged decompression diving. With a maximum operating depth of 40 metres (150 ft.), this course is your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits.
Your TDI Instructor will provide you with valuable information and skills, including:
- Kit set-up
- Equipment requirements
- Decompression techniques
- Decompression breathing gases
- Gas management
- Contingency planning
The TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver course teaches you how to safely use Nitrox mixes from EAN 21 to EAN 100. Mixes with a high percentage of oxygen can greatly reduce decompression obligation so you can get out of the water safely in less time than with standard mixes.
The TDI Decompression Procedures Diver course combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver course form the foundation of all other technical courses. After these two courses and some additional experience, the stage has been set for you to move onto additional technical diving levels.
Belize Diving Services is proud to offer dive tours, expedition support and further technical training beyond Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures. In 2014, we worked to reopen Giant Cave which lies just below Caye Caulker. Pictured above is Mark Long’s stunning photo of Giant Cave. We are honored to have diving legend Paul Heinerth (with line reel above) collaborating on this project, as well as esteemed colleagues Bill and Diane Oestreich, Becky and David Kagan Schott, Leon Scamahorn, and Robbie Schmittner.
Tech diving training is usually one-on-one or small groups and highly customized for you. To develop a specialized package, please contact Belize Diving Services’ owner James Chip Petersen three months prior to your expected trip. Please allow up to a week for a return email as Chip is often in the water.
