The two best hotels on the island are Iguana Reef Inn (pictured above) and Seaside Cabanas. Both have oceanfront views, pools, and 15 to 20 rooms each. Iguana Reef Inn is luxurious, right next door to the dive shop, and has amazing sunset views. Rooms are $135-$175 US. Yuma’s House Belize (also known as Tina’s Backpacker’s Hostel): A funky favorite of the young and young at heart. This inexpensive, beachfront hostel features shared accommodations in bunk-style rooms, but also has a few private rooms. See or email

Miramar Hotel next door to Albert’s Grocery: Offers a nice deck to meet fellow travelers. It’s a social spot with shared rooms on two floors. Brightly painted marine green, this hotel is easy to find. Phone: 011-501-206-0357.
